MARC is Machine Readable Catalogue data.
And “Machine” here is a computer. When we looked around for information on
MARC, we felt the need for additional help during viewing and otherwise working
with MARC data. The Visual MARC Editor
application resulted from our need to pay attention to all the details of
recording data in MARC without getting overwhelmed by the sheer size of the
MARC specification. We believe that this application will be of help to every
one who needs to view, edit or talk about MARC data. Some of the important
features of the Visual MARC Editor and a sample screen are given here.
