Mrs. Meera Gaikaiwari, Co-founder <<Back

Mrs. Meera Gaikaiwari, the Managing Partner of Algorhythms, Pune, is an alumnus of IIT Mumbai - having done her B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and M.Tech with elective Computer Engineering. Prior to setting up Algorhythms with her husband (also an IIT Mumbai alumnus), she has worked for Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai and HBO Consultants at Atlanta, USA.

In the year 1989, Algorhythms developed a library automation package for IUCAA - Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the request of eminent astrophysicist, Dr Jayant Naralikar. The good work fetched few more libraries as clients. But the real challenge was to make automation work for Indian Libraries. Libraries faced constraints such as budgets, staff with a fear of computers and planning for backlog of stock to be computerized. Meera realized that along with technology her clients need empathy. Soon she became known to many librarians - not as a vendor of a library software package, but a friend trading the path along with them.
In the year 2001, Meera received “Anand Bhadkamkar SICOM award for notable contribution in the field of software technology as a women entrepreneur”.
Meera is a member of American Librarians Association (ALA).
